L.C. Smith Ideal Grade
Log #3237

Shotguns Main Page

Description A nice L.C. Smith Ideal Grade.  The receiver has turned mostly to a silver patina with about 20%-30% original case colors in the protected areas.  The engraving on the receiver is as sharp and crisp as the day it was cut.

The barrels retain 90% bluing with some thinning of the blue at the breech end where the gun has been handled and carried.  The barrels appear to have been re-blued but all of the barrel lettering is still sharp and crisp.  Bores are excellent with only a small dent visible in the left barrel about 9” from the muzzle.

The stocks show 60% to 70% original finish and have seen considerable use, but no abuse.  Small cracks are visible behind each lock plate which is typical for L.C. Smith’s.  The forend also has a small crack on the left side just forward of the forend iron.

Overall this is a nice straight, honest Smith with signs of hard use but no abuse.  With a little TLC to the stocks this shotgun could be a very nice addition to anyone’s gun case.
