Winchester Model 1895 Take-Down
The Winchester Model 1895 was the first lever action rifle from Winchester to incorporate a box magazine. This made it possible to shoot “Spitzer” type pointed bullets which was not possible in a lever action with a tubular magazine. The fully restored Model 1895 pictured above is chambered in 405 Winchester, which was the most powerful commercial round in the United States when introduced. Theodore Roosevelt used the 405 Winchester in Africa and called it “Big Medicine for large and dangerous beasts”.
